Deleting Multiple Empty
Layers
This is a feature that has been around
since version 5, but many, including myself, often forget or overlook
it. It's very useful as you will see, in deleting many unused layers
at once.
Version: 5 and above

Often times when you are creating
complex illustrations or layouts, you create a bunch of layers
to help organize everything. During this work, you may end up
using a layer temporarily and nothing will be on it later. Doing
this often will give you many unused layers and it's very difficult
to tell if a layer has something on it or not.
Well there is an easy way to tidy
up a long list of layers, removing those that are empty and at
the same time, letting you know if there are anything on the layers.
|
 |
|
First, make sure nothing is selected,
then click on the first layer in the list. Then Shift+Click
on the last layer in the list to select all the layers at once.
Then in the pull-down menu, select
Remove.
|
 |
|
You will get a warning dialog box
with two choices shown above. In this case we just want to remove
the Empty layers, so choose the Empty option.
|
 |
|
Instantly the empty layers are removed
and you are left with only the layers with Data on them. In the
example above, everything is on the Final layer (Not sure
why it made the Background layer active).
